Dish Network is a No Brainer
I’m what you might call a thinking man. Socrates said, “The unexamined life is not worth living,” and this is a maxim I abide by.
Everyday we are faced with decisions that may forever alter the course of our life. To be or not to be? Do I get the soup or salad? Should I buy foreign or domestic? Coffee or tea? If I buy a Toyota will I feel guilty for not being as patriotic as I could be? If I order a caramel café latte will I feel a little bit girly for drinking such a foofy beverage. If I opt for the clam chowder over the house salad will I accidentally eat a rancid clam and spend the next 24 hours examining the bottom of my toilet bowl. I’m fairly certain this is not what Socrates had in mind when he said life should be examined.
So when I was posed with the question: do I subscribe to cable television or Dish Network satellite, I had to examine the facts.
The average price of cable is about $70 a month, while Dish Network offers programming packages starting at $31.99 per month. Cable services have limited availability for high-definition TV. Dish Network offers impressive HDTV packages. Most importantly, Dish Network boasts many more channels, a better selection of packages and the satellite equipment is free.
I’m a philosophy major and I know that once I graduate a great deal of my time will be spent unemployed, sitting in front of the television with my hand in a bag of Cheetos. When I’m up late at night, after sleeping all day, with cable it seems like nothing much is ever on the tube except for paid programming, like infomercials that tell me how I can make a fortune in sketchy real estate schemes. My life is depressing enough and I don’t need overenthusiastic weirdos telling me how I can make a killing in the real estate business. I want a glorious array of premium movie channels like Encore, Starz, HBO, Showtime and especially late-night Cinemax.
When it comes to deciding between cable and Dish Network Satellite, it is a no-brainer. Dish has it all.
And besides, Dish Network technicians install all the equipment for you and for free. This is perfect for me because I’m also what you might call a lazy man. And while the Dish dudes are busy hooking up my satellite dish and receiver, I can spend even more time examining my life. It’s what Socrates would want.
