Dish Network and the New Baby
My husband and I switched to Dish Network Satellite shortly before our first child, Evan, was born. At the time we were mostly concerned with the savings in view of all the expenses we would have with the baby – diapers, formula and such. Cable TV was getting too expensive so we decided on Satellite TV as a good alternative. Also, because I was used to working full time, I thought it would be boring to stay home with the baby and the programming choices afforded by Dish Network would alleviate that boredom. This just goes to show how naïve I was about becoming a mom!
Like most first time parents, we were not prepared for the reality of caring for an infant. Evan was a wonderful baby, but we weren’t used to the 24 hour a day schedule and the loss of sleep. My mother told me that Evan would eat every two hours, which he did. He also ate in-between every two hours. The DVR was certainly handy when it came to accommodating Evan’s eating schedule.
I really appreciated the Dish Network TV in general, but especially the Dish DVR, which allowed me to pause my favorite programs when Evan needed me and resume them when he decided to sleep. The programming choices helped keep me calmer and less stressed as I enjoyed movies, sit-coms, and even the informative programs about raising children.
Now Evan is a year old, and he is able to enjoy some of the kid’s choices from Dish Network, and there are things we watch and talk about together. He is sleeping most nights, so his dad and I get to curl up, have some grown-up time, and watch shows that don’t have anything to do with hand puppets or the alphabet. We’re resting up: Evan will get a new sister or brother in about six months, so Dish Network will help us through as we do it all over again.
