Dish Network vs. Crisco

Dish Network vs. Crisco

Milton T. is my name, and I’m a Dish Network TV Customer Service Rep. I decided to write a few lines about some of the calls I’ve received over the past few years. I have a few picked out for you.

One winter morning I was in the service department when I got a call. I logged in and answered with the usual “Thank you for calling Dish Network, my name is Milton, how may I help you?” I have to tell you, the moment granny started to speak I knew it would be an interesting day. She first told me that she subscribed to Satellite TV for her husband so he could watch ‘the boxing’ as she put it; and that he had set it up and it had been working fine.

I asked her how I could help her. She complained that now the Dish Network reception was terribly distorted and fuzzy. I was thinking, “Okay, snow might have built up on the dish.” I asked her if she could see snow covering the dish. She said that they had heard that some people spray a “no stick” spray on the dish so that the snow will not stick and will slide off. I said “This is sometimes done, however Dish Network doesn’t recommend you do that to the dish.” So then granny says to me “Oh, well we didn’t do that. We didn’t have any ‘no stick’ spray so I suggested using Crisco instead.”

“You smeared ‘Crisco’ shortening on your dish?” I asked.
“Yes” was her reply!
