The Direct TV Dish Ate my Homework
Hi, this is Francesca Jones, Satellite TV phone rep, reporting in the journal was suggest by a friend. I had a great call today from a sixth grader named Michael. He called up frantic because his big brother had taken his homework and stuck it to the family’s Direct TV dish with a wad of gum. Apparently, the bus was expected in less than an hour and Michael didn’t know what to do.
Reasoning that if Michael’s brother was able to reach the satellite TV dish; then shouldn’t Michael be able to, also? The answer to this was a resounding ‘NO’ that even Marsha, another phone rep who sat 4 seats down, heard.
“Well, Michael,” I said. “Can your parents help you get it down?”
“They don’t believe me.” Michael said this so sadly, that I melted.
“Don’t worry, Michael. We’ll have someone there to help you out in no time.”
Lucky for Michael, we had a Direct TV representative, Chad, only a few miles away. “Chad, the bus is coming. Can you make it quick?”
Chad didn’t even ask what I meant. “No problem.” He said. “I guess I’d better hurry, huh? It’s 7 already!”
Chad zipped over to Michael’s house and, sure enough, a 3 page report on Abraham Lincoln was attached to the Direct TV dish with a wad of Bubble Yum. Moreover, I don’t know for sure, of course, but I’ll bet Michael’s parents will believe him the next time he tells them about his older brother – especially if it involves homework, gum, or a satellite dish.
