Embarrassment Forces Call to Dish TV

Hello, Danielle Wagner here and if anyone can tell you a good story about some funny phone conversations, it would be me! I have to tell you, working as a phone rep for Dish Network certainly exposes me to some interesting individuals. You wouldn’t believe some of the calls I get pertaining to satellite TV and the services offered by Dish TV.

I remember one phone call in particular that still stuns me. One day, shortly after I had returned from lunch, a woman called in on the hotline. I introduced myself as usual and asked her how I could best assist her. Would you believe that she was calling me on her cell phone from her roof?

She explained to me that she lived alone and that being an extremely independent woman, she felt that she would have no difficulty installing the dish herself. She got out her ladder, put the small satellite TV dish and all of the tools she would require onto the roof, climbed onto the roof, and guess what -- the ladder fell, leaving her stranded on the roof! What was even funnier was that she now wanted one of our installation technicians to come to the premises to help her get down!

I advised her that I would have no problem sending out an installation technician to help her with her problem. Yet, thinking she was in a panicked state about her precarious situation and not thinking clearly, I asked her if she wouldn’t rather call a neighbour to help her, as they could probably get to her much sooner than one of our technicians could.

Surprisingly, she said she would rather wait for one of our techs to arrive -- she didn’t want to be embarrassed by the fact that she had stranded herself on her own roof! Needless to say, I scheduled technicians to help her and, of course, she got them to install her satellite TV dish when they arrived -- which we at Dish Network always recommend!
