Home From College and got Dish Network
I came home from college last Summer looking to kick back and catch up on all the television programs I’d missed while I was studying, but mom and dad’s television only had channels 2, 5, 7, 9, 11, 23, and 32. Maybe back when cavemen were scribbling with berries and flint seven channels would have caused a cultural explosion, but this is the new millennium!
Serendipitously, on channel 7, a Dish Network advertisement promised exactly what I was looking for. I wasn’t sure how my parents would feel about my ordering without permission, especially after that unfortunate experience with cable, but I went ahead with it anyway.
When my parents found out, they weren’t mad at all. In fact, they were impressed with my financial savvy at choosing such a great deal. The Dish Network picture was as crisp as if we were in a theater. Brad Pitt was as close and clear as the two happy parents and bratty little sister sitting next to me. Dad was happy about the free installation and Mom appreciated the low monthly rate.
“You’re a genius,” my Mom said.
Dad had finally stopped complaining about the price of tuition and instead was drooling over the sports channels, CNN, and ESPN. My little sister was just as giddy when she realized Disney had entered the building. My mom was happy that she could lock or limit features for rating and spending control. She’s a censor for all the right reasons. With a custom on-screen guide, I just laid back in my favorite chair, anticipating a much-improved summer.
No one has noticed I haven’t been job hunting - maybe because my family has never been closer.
Thanks for letting me post my story
