Hey Dish Network Can You Hear Me Now ?
While taking calls for Dish Network, I had a call today from a Don, He thought we had a reception problem. This is how the call went...
“Hello, my name is Lucy from DISH, How may I help you with your satellite service?”
“Hi. I’m having a problem with my satellite.”
“What seems to be the problem, sir?” I asked.
“Well, I can’t seem to figure out how to use my satellite TV right.”
“You mean to hook it up sir? I could dispatch out a—”
“No, I mean…here….”
Muffled rattling noises—
“Can you hear me now?” I heard from off in the distance.
“Did you hear that?” he said, his voice louder now.
“I’m not sure what you mean sir.”
“Can you hear me now?” I heard again, off in the distance, a little more audible.
“There. Did you hear that?” the man asked.
“I heard you say ‘can you hear me now’ but it was awfully muffled sir. It sounds really windy where you are…”
“It’s windy up here on my roof, that’s why.”
“Why are you on your roof, sir? Are you installing your satellite TV dish?” I asked, worried about the man being on the phone balancing on his roof while talking to me.
“I told you, I can’t get this darn thing to work right. I tried to call you on it, but I didn’t get any response. So, I got my wife to bring me the cordless telephone to call you to get it to work right.”
Muffling my laughter, I asked “Are you trying to call us on your satellite dish, sir?”
“Yes, of course I am. Can you hear me now?” I politely informed Dummy Don that he couldn’t use his satellite dish to call us up here at the office and that ‘calling up a signal’ didn’t really mean ‘calling’—poor guy.
