I have some Dish Network Stories Too!
A Day in the Life of a Satellite Systems Rep: The Satellite Diary of La La La Lynda
Working in the media business, specifically the satellite system industry for Dish Network, the work can be quite the challenge; especially when you’re dealing with people’s ability to watch TV. So, I guess I had a few screws loose when I began working as a phone rep for DISH TV. At first, I thought to myself, “What have I gotten myself into? These people are slap crazy!”
But as I began doing it longer, I found myself amused by some of the stories I would hear when people would call. From the woman who called when she was trying several recipes from a cooking show and her cable when out, she was left with five half-done dishes for that night’s dinner party to the man who was cleaning off his roof in his pajamas and caught the edge of his satellite dish, and to keep from toppling off of the roof, he had to hang on to his satellite TV dish in his underwear (which were polka dotted, of course). His was actually a repair call and I had to keep from giggling when I transferred him to Dish Network’s service department.
Anyway, as a way to keep myself from going as crazy as some of those callers, I started keeping a journal. And I entered them all too — the crazy stories, the outrageous Dish Network stories, the frustrating stories and of course, the funny ones. After all, everyone loves a good story. So, that’s why I’ve decided to begin sharing my journal entries. Reading through the entries always keeps me entertained, so I figured it would probably entertain other people too. So, here we go with what I will call “The Satellite Diary of La La La Lynda,” and when you say the “La” part, be sure to give it the slant of a Spanish, flamenco dancer. Until next time...
