DISH Network & DIRECTV Programming

Satellite TV has two major Direct Broadcast Satellite (DBS) providers.  At first glance, DISH Network and DIRECTV, are consistently the same in almost all aspects except for a few minor differences, thus the existing competition between these two providers.  DirecTV’s significant edge factor is attributed to its long standing exclusive NFL Sunday Ticket deal aside from its relatively earlier launching.  DISH Network's strength lies in its more than 500 channels of digital programming, which is definitely more than what the competitor offers, as well as its extensive foreign-language and high definition  programming.

American Programming

DISH Network Programming offers America's Top 60, 120, 180 and Americas Everything Pak which includes over 191 channels Plus All the movie channels. The best entertainment including public interest channels. DIRECTV Programming offers the Total Choice, Total Choice Plus and Total Choice Premier package which gives about 205 channels Plus all the movie channels.

DISH Network Programming offers packages including NBA League Pass, ESPN Full Court, ESPN Game Plan, NHL Center Ice, English Premier League Soccer and MLS Direct Kick. DIRECTV Programming boasts of the tremendous amount of sports it offers, broadcasting practically every game of every sport: The NFL Ticket, NBA League Pass, MLB Extra Innings, the NHL Center Ice and International Sports.

Latino Programming

DISH Network programming offers the Dish Latino, Dish Latino Dos and Dish Latino Max, a package that includes DISH Latino and DISH Latino Dos with 31 Spanish language channels and 195 English (requires a DISH 500 system). DIRECTV Programming offers OPCION SELECCIÓN EXTRA, OPCION SELECCIÓN MÁS, OPCION Premiere ESPECIAL which gives access to more than 35 Spanish language channels including sports, movie, music, news and educational network and 135 English channels.
