DISH HD vip 211 is touted as the next generation DISH Network high definition satellite receiver.  This system can deliver both standard-definition (SD) and high-definition (HD) programming and provides access to all DISH Network SD and HD channels.  Standard Definition Television (SDTV) is a general term applied to conventional Digital TV modes while High-Definition Television (HDTV) provides significant improvement in picture quality with more visible details than SDTV.  It usually broadcasts on a wide-screen format and may be accompanied by digital surround sound capability.
