High definition TV programming is the up and coming technology in TV programming today. It not only provides a clearer and more defined picture on the screen, but the audio feature comes in digitized surround sound, that incorporates Dolby noise reduction technology. The result is crystal clear CD quality theater sound that until its inception was unobtainable through a TV.
You have to have a high definition TV to receive high definition programming, so some investment is required for you to start receiving this richer and more defined picture and sound in your home or place of business. Although the price on a good big screened plasma high definition TV has fallen substantially over the last few years, it still requires an outlay of some two or three thousand dollars for the larger models.
With this in mind, it only stands to reason that you would want the most in your high definition programming, after you have brought home your high definition big screen plasma TV. Cable companies now offer some channels of programming in high definition, but not nearly as many as satellite TV programming providers are able to offer their customers.
It’s the cables themselves that are the limiting factor for cable companies. The cables that they use to send out their programming are limited in the number of high definition channels of programming that they can carry.
Satellite TV programming service providers don't use cables and therefore don’t have the limitations that cable service providers have. Satellite service providers differ in the number of high definition channels that they carry in that some carry more than others. One thing that they all have in common though is that they are all busy upgrading their systems and doing what it takes to add more high definition channels in the upcoming future.
High definition is the Achilles heel of cable service providers and all of the cable providers are busy trying to throw up smoke screens to hide this fact. So much of the information that cable companies provide for the public when they are comparing their services to those of satellite service providers, is in fact misinformation that is created to distract the viewing public from the facts on high definition programming.
The fact is, that if you go to a cable service provider for your TV programming and you want to receive high definition programming in your service package, what ever the amount of high definition channels that they have to offer you, is the amount that you are going to have to be content with for the entire duration of their extended service contract.
When you rely on a satellite service provider for your high definition programming though, you can reasonably expect that more channels will be added to their list of high definition programming further on down the line. So make sure that you have checked all the facts on high definition programming before you commit yourself to a long term programming package, or you might find yourself coming up short in the long run.
