There were numerous political scandals across the U.S. as cable companies corrupted elected public officials with bribes to win exclusive rights to broadcast in communities.
North Dakota Cable companies enjoyed a long joy ride at the expense of the consumer as they gouged their customers on virtually everything. Like gangsters they took advantage of public utility easement rights to force their way into peoples yards to install unsightly, green junction boxes, weather or not the hapless residents were using their over priced services or not.
By the time satellite service arrived in the early nineties, the public consumer was more than ready for a change. The only area that cable companies had undergone any real growth was in cost of their services to their customers.
